The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Afrikan Reparations
The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Afrikan Reparations is an informal, cross-party grouping of UK parliamentarians with an interest in issues relating to African reparations, the legacy of the transatlantic slave trade and colonialism, and the restitution or repatriation of African cultural artefacts and ancestral remains. It provides a forum for Members of Parliament, Members of the House of Lords, academics, community organisations, campaigners, and other stakeholders to discuss relevant issues and policy proposals. As well as hosting the annual UK Reparations Conference at Friends House, the group conducts regular meetings, hearings, research activities, and public engagement activities to examine the historical legacy of enslavement and colonisation and explore proposals for reparative justice.
