Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP (Chair)
Bell has been the Chair of our APPG since its foundation in 2021. She was elected as a Labour MP for her home constituency of Streatham in 2019 and briefly served as the Shadow Immigration Minister. She founded our APPG to raise awareness around the legacies of slavery and colonialism and explore policy proposals to address them through parliamentary channels.

Clive Lewis MP (Vice-Chair)
Clive Lewis is a vice-chair of our APPG. He has been the Labour MP for Norwich South since winning the seat in 2015. Clive served as Shadow Defence Secretary and Shadow Business Secretary under Jeremy Corbyn. In 2023, he secured a debate on the Government’s role in reducing inequality and building financial security in the Caribbean, where he outlined the case for reparatory justice.

The Rt. Hon. Diane Abbott MP
Representing the people of Hackney North and Stoke Newington as their MP since 1987, Diane Abbott was the first Black woman to be elected to Parliament. Diane served as Shadow Health Secretary under the leadership of Ed Miliband and subsequently as Shadow Home Secretary under Jeremy Corbyn. In 2019, Diane became the first Black person to represent her party at Prime Minister’s Questions.

Lord Ed Vaizey
Edward Vaizey, Baron Vaizey of Didcot, PC is a British politician, media columnist, political commentator and barrister who represented Wantage as a Conservative MP from 2005 to 2019 and served as Minister for Culture, Communications and Creative Industries from 2010 to 2016.

Dawn Butler MP
Dawn Butler is a vice-chair of our APPG and has been the Labour MP for Brent Central since 2015. Prior to this, she served as the MP for Brent South from 2005-2010, during which time she also became the first Black woman to speak from the despatch box in Parliament as the Minister for Young Citizens and Youth Engagement at the tail end of Gordon Brown’s premiership. Dawn also previously served as the Shadow Secretary of State for Women & Equalities under Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership.

Kate Osamor MP
Kate Osamor is a member of our APPG and has been the Labour MP for Edmonton since 2015. Under Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership, she served as Shadow Secretary of State for International Development for two years where she was responsible for developing Labour’s policy response to tackling inequality and poverty in the Global South.

The Rt. Hon. Jeremy Corbyn MP
Jeremy Corbyn MP is an officer of our APPG, serving as the Labour Party Leader and Leader of His Majesty’s Most Loyal Opposition from 2015-2020. He has represented the constituency of Islington North for 40 years now. Jeremy is a longstanding supporter of the UK movement for reparatory justice, pledging environmental reparations during his time as Labour Leader.

The Rt. Hon. Baroness Shami Chakrabarti
Baroness Chakrabarti is a politician, barrister, and human rights activist, who served as Shadow Attorney General for England and Wales from September 2016 to April 2020. She was the Director of Liberty (the National Council for Civil Liberties), from 2003 to 2016 and its In House Counsel from 2001 to 2003. On 6 September 2016, she was created a life peer as Baroness Chakrabarti, of Kennington in the London Borough of Lambeth

Baroness Christine Blower
Baroness Blower is a schoolteacher and trade unionist who served as General Secretary of the National Union of Teachers. She was created Baroness Blower, of Starch Green in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, on 15 October 2019.

Baron Hendy KC is a barrister practising in employment and Trade Union law. He was created Baron Hendy, of Hayes and Harlington in the London Borough of Hillingdon, on 15 October 2019.

Lord Simon Woolley
Lord Woolley is a British politician and activist. He is the founder and director of Operation Black Vote and Trustee of the charity Police Now, and has served as the Principal of Homerton College, Cambridge, since October 2021. He was created Baron Woolley of Woodford, of Woodford in the London Borough of Redbridge, on 14 October 2019.

Baroness Doreen Lawrence
Baroness Lawrence is a British Jamaican campaigner and the mother of Stephen Lawrence, a black British teenager who was murdered in a racist attack in South East London in 1993. She was elevated to the peerage as a life peer on 6 September 2013, as Baroness Lawrence of Clarendon, of Clarendon in the Commonwealth Realm of Jamaica.

Marsha De Cordova MP
Marsha De Cordova has represented Battersea as a Labour MP since the General Election of May 2017. During her time in Parliament, Marsha has served as both the Shadow Minister for Disabled People and as the Shadow Secretary of State for Women & Equalities.

Zarah Sultana has served as the MP for Coventry South since the 2019 general election.
